מה זה Face of America 2002?
|
Face of America 2002, organized by World T.E.A.M (The Exceptional Athlete Matters) Sports, will bring together disabled and able-bodies cyclists from around the world to ride in the three-day and two-night journey from New York City to Washington, DC. Face of America 2002 will honor the lives of those who were killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The ride will be a monumental expression of hope and unity in the form of an athletic challenge that affirms World T.E.A.M Sport´s belief that the sheer internal will of the human person is what allows us to accomplish nearly impossible goals despite differences. |
מי יכול להשתתף במסע?
A core group of one thousand riders will travel a route from New York City to Washington, DC. Some team members will ride in memory of co-workers, family members of friends killed in the September 11 tragedy. Satellite riders will join the core team along the route with several thousand joining in New York City for event send-off. Thousands more riders will join the team along the route in Washington, DC to welcome the group and participate in the closing ceremony.
Citizens, both American and several dozen from other countries, will participate to remind citizens of the world, that we all ride the same rode. Each rider will have personal and unique reasons for participating. The widow of firefighter has begun training for the ride, an attorney who escaped death the morning of September 11 and a group of NYC firefighters have all signed up to participate in the journey. |

On Friday, September 20, 2002, riders will begin the excursion from what has become known as "Ground Zero" in New York, riding past the Statue of Liberty via Battery Park, the Face of America 2002 team will teavel 255-miles through New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia, ending their exhilarating ride of hope and inity in Washington, DC at the site of many great civil rights gatherings in Washingotn, DC ---the Lincoln Memorial. |
