The exact model was Python gold 2.0 (not the elite and not the airlight)
I was living in Santa Barbara, California at that time and commute to work
on my bike (9 miles round trip). I also rode once or twice a week on Southern
California´s amazing trails. The terrain is not the most tire friendly to say
the least. The Matilija shale is very sharp but there are fewer thorns than
here. If I am not mistaken I didn´t suffer from punctures. At one point, when
I was a bit concerned about the quick deterioration of the tire, I calculated
that I did about 900 miles on the road alone and probably only 300 miles on
dirt. Perhaps these numbers aren´t so bad and I was simply riding a lot during
that period. Take into account that road riding is a lot more abbrasive on the
tire than dirt - yes, while a tire might suffer from snakebites and other
abbuse on dirt, it is the road that takes most of the pattern away, and
quickly. I forgot to mention that the tire is very fast with low rolling
resistance (which was the reason I took it in the first place knowing I
will use it on the road a lot). I have recommanded it to a family member who
bought the airligt version for his Santa Cruz Blur and he is very happy with
them.
