hello there! im in the middle of my cross-s.e. asia bicycle trip, starting in china and finish in thailand. from what i´ve seen so far- southwest china was the most challanging and beautiful part of my journy. the provinces in china circling tibet, mostly sichuan and yunnan (south west china) has some excellent mountain roads, amazing culture and wonderfull people. i carried a tent but never once had to use it. big cities in these region has some good bike shops (i but mine there.) with great prices. u can get anything from spare shimanu parts to panieers (bike-bags). i think may might be a little chily in the mountains.
northwest vietnam offers also a great ride from 7 to 14 days of low mountains ride. as for bike gear- no good stuff available in vietnam. i would love to give u some more info, contact me at my email. china kicks ass :mad:
